Just in time for the new season to start, I got an order for a Mad Men pair. I'm already a fan of the show (2 hour season premiere on Sunday!!) so this was probably one of my favorite pairs to make.

If you haven't seen the show, the opening credits show the stark black silhouette of a suited man falling through the air. Behind him are buildings that show ads of the era (the show takes place in the 1960s). This opening sequence has been spoofed many times, including by the Simpsons

Recently, the subway ads for the new season have become canvases for subway artists here in New York; people have been marking up the relatively blank ads with their own ideas (as seen to the right). Some of them are pretty funny, so take a look the rest at gothamist.com.

Anyway, the shoes I made have the same silhouette hanging on to the falling blinds, while his briefcase and his hat drop beneath him. I'm just glad the customer loved the shoes, and so did the guy she was giving them to! ;)
