Manual Textile Printing Press time

I finally found the time to print that second batch of Shark Tees that I told you about. I actually had to go through the process of making a new screen, so I thought I'd share a few pics from the printing day.

After printing onto a few transparencies, I thought about which colors and what materials I wanted to print on. On a whim, I decided to print on tote bags too.

As for the actual printing process, I patiently waited for a mega watt lamp to burn the image onto a screen (twitter is a great time waster), then shot it with a garden hose in a big sink, and clamped it down to a manual printing press (just a wooden board with a clamp at the end). The photo at the top is the screen all clamped and ready to print!

I know there are a lot of awesome people who deserve a Shark Tee, but I could only make 10 this time around. Don't worry, I'll be printing more. This is only the 2nd batch!

About a year ago, I designed a shark symbol, screened them on some Uniqlo t-shirts, and gave them out to friends. Why? Because I love sharks. And I wanted to give something cool to the awesome people I'd met while abroad; I knew I wouldn't be seeing them very regularly when I moved back to the States. It's just a nice token of appreciation. Sadly, since I only made nine, there weren't enough shirts for all the deserving folks.

So I'm making a 2nd round of shark t-shirts. Granted I'm only making 10 more (chill out, I don't own a factory) I hope those who receive one will really wear the shark with pride.

I'm probably going to make this an annual thing because a) it's fun and b) people love free t-shirts! lols.

P.S. I'm so excited to post the next pair of shoes, but I can't because it's supposed to be a surprise! Gah, can't wait 'til I get the okay from the customer!
