The flag we Americans have is kind of awesome. I put a little twist on the classic stars & stripes by turning the red into braids. Unfortunately these never made it to the person they were made for. But I wasn't in any rush to sell them, so they sat safely in storage for last few months. Honestly I was considering just wearing them myself with really thick socks (I'm a size 7, these are a 7.5).Finally, on the last day of the year 2012, they are getting shipped out to a lucky girl in Tennessee. I'm totally jealous that she'll get to wear these. I hope she loves them!More pics in the Gallery! Welps, it's been a real blast, 2012. So many great orders, so many awesome shoes, and so many good times.Let's keep it going in 2013! Happy New Year everyone!
Just in time for the new season to start, I got an order for a Mad Men pair. I'm already a fan of the show (2 hour season premiere on Sunday!!) so this was probably one of my favorite pairs to make.
If you haven't seen the show, the opening credits show the stark black silhouette of a suited man falling through the air. Behind him are buildings that show ads of the era (the show takes place in the 1960s). This opening sequence has been spoofed many times, including by the Simpsons. Recently, the subway ads for the new season have become canvases for subway artists here in New York; people have been marking up the relatively blank ads with their own ideas (as seen to the right). Some of them are pretty funny, so take a look the rest at gothamist.com.
Anyway, the shoes I made have the same silhouette hanging on to the falling blinds, while his briefcase and his hat drop beneath him. I'm just glad the customer loved the shoes, and so did the guy she was giving them to! ;)

I recently received an order from one of my favorite designers: BEDFORD STREET LAUNDRY. I absolutely adore their Spring/Summer 2012 collection, so when the designer contacted me for a custom pair of Vans, I was so excited to get started!
And last night, they were finished!
I love this SK8PARK print (on the model above), and I think it looks great on these Vans Authentics, don't you?
